Refugee & Immigration Services resettles refugees and assists immigrants, empowering them to build new lives in welcoming communities. Services exclusively for refugees and asylees include: housing, in-depth orientation and self-sufficiency planning, case management, transportation, some interpretation services and employment assistance. English instruction, immigration counseling, language bank/interpreter services, school liaison services and cultural competency training are provided to refugees and immigrants, as well as to the greater community. RIS serves newcomers of all races, religions, and nationalities.

Using a special radio system, the agency broadcasts daily the reading of current printed material for the benefit of those who cannot read for themselves because of visual impairment or other physical disability. With the use of a specially-tuned radio, each day a growing number of print handicapped --currently in excess of 1,000-- are able to "read" the daily newspaper and their favorite magazines. Each week about 100 volunteers produce 91 hours of programming consisting of readings from more than 100 publications.
