Individuals and families who are homeless, or at-risk, obtain economic stability and safe, affordable housing.
Why We Care
We know that on any given day, more than 1,500 people are without a home in the Greater Richmond/Petersburg region. We also know that women and children are the fastest growing group of homeless and that half of all children experiencing homelessness are under the age of five.
How We Do It
United Way works to achieve results by conducting on-going research to assess our community's needs and identify the best approaches to help people reach stability.
Lasting Solutions
We believe the careful investment of funds in quality programs is one solution. But sometimes needs are more complex than programs can tackle alone. Through Homeward, we're leading the way to holistic solutions.
For example, we know it is no longer enough to simply provide overnight shelter. Our approach dictates that we integrate services and build a system of care that addresses homelessness issues from root cause to ultimate solution.
