Southside Community

Why We Care
In the Southside community, less than half of students reach the third grade able to read and write at grade level. And, the number of people living below the poverty level is nearly twice as high as the state average.

How We Do It
United Way's goal in Southside is to achieve our community vision to prepare children, stop homelessness and support older adults. To do this, we assess our community's needs by conducting on-going research and identify the best approaches.

Lasting Solutions
Working with community partners, we find solutions that focus on the root cause of problems, provide lasting change and create a better system of care for people in the Southside community.

Through the careful investment of funds in quality programs, we're ensuring people receive the help they need while building a stronger, healthier community for us all.
